collection for Earth sea and Sky 2021

This collection was based on my work placement at Earth Sea Sky, a New Zealand brand manufacturing high performance outdoor wear. I was inspired by the brand’s approach to sustainability, and the brief focused on utilising their textile waste and exploring other ways to minimise waste during production, with traditional techniques such as patchwork being an important element. The urban collection was inspired by the outdoors, showcasing style features such as heavy-duty zippers, cording and toggles. Textile waste fabric features, including superfine merino and soft-shell fabric. Durability is an important component of the collection which is reflected in the choice of high-quality materials. A contemporary colour palette was created using bright orange balanced with neutral greys and an exaggerated and playful silhouette provides comfort and protection.
